Uh oh, what did Cindy buy now that we have to lug home

Those of you that know us have probably heard Marshall complain over the years about the overly large items I purchase on trips that we then have to drag home.  From India it was a huge comforter that he held in his lap on the plane.  In Germany, it was half a case of wine we bought the 2nd day of our 16 day trip, that he carried in his backpack the rest of the time.   The list goes on....

So he pretty much lives in fear of my souvenir choices, and this trip was no exception.  :)

Tharangi had to go get her sari altered, and I wanted to buy some gifts, so they dropped me off a state sanctioned tchotchke shop.  For a loooong time.   Long enough for me to buy some gifts, go get a latte, and then come back into the store and stare... for too long.... at something I really wanted.  Really really wanted, but had no clue how I'd get home.

Whether its bad news or good, I was there long enough that I said "To hell with it" and bought it.  After which there was much bubble wrapping, taping, boxing and twining.  You should have seen Marshall's face when he saw the box.  ;)

That box on the bottom contains the mystery prize - Marsh didn't see what was even in it til we got home, even though he had to drag it through the airport. :)

Fragile, written in English and Sinhala, didn't seem to keep it from getting somewhat banged up transiting through 3 airports.  Time to pray nothing's broken...

Success!  There she blows!

A shot from the store of a similar one.  I just love wood, and these were really cool

And I showed this picture to Marshall in an attempt to point out that getting the 20" tall one was reasonable, compared to this.  It's like 4 FEET tall.  But how cool would two of these be in your entryway!  *snort*  Granted, I'd have to buy a bigger, more impressive house first..... ;)
