Kandy - what's it look like?

Everyone always wants to know what Sri Lanka "looks like".  Wow, hard question to answer, even harder thing to offer up photographic evidence of.  If I had a professional photographer in my pocket (Lori?), it would be easier.  But as I don't, we'll have to work with what I've got. Its just almost impossible to capture everything, especially the roadside out the window of a moving tuk tuk/bus/train/car.

This particular city, Kandy, is located in a hilly area in the central part of the island, with a lake in the center.   Quite pretty, if you can get past the traffic, which is awful almost everywhere.  Tuk tuks, trucks, motorbikes, cars and somewhat lax "lanes", if you know what I mean, combined with heavy rains and poor infrastructure spending, means that you don't get anywhere fast in Sri Lanka.   And Kandy has the added problem in that, being hilly, it traps the smog.

Marsh and I have a thing about going to McDonalds on all our vacations, but we never saw one in Sri Lanka.  So this was our consolation prize.  Makes sense, in a Buddhist/Hindu country, not too many people want a Big Mac.  ;)
