After our Marlin Perkin's Wild Kingdom day yesterday, we were happy to have a fairly relaxed morning, and some time to goof off in Colombo. Jon and Marshall went to a sports bar to watch TV, and I ran errands with Tharangi and her Mom - with a pit stop at a gift shop, see the next post for what I bought. ;)
That night was The Big Party. T's parents were throwing a local reception for them, since the wedding will be in Las Vegas and only the close family is attending. The hall was beautiful and they had a live band and a huge dinner buffet. We met lots of cousins and friends from school and other relatives. We tried to stay out the way somewhat, and later I hoped that this wasn't construed as rude. Midwestern rules dictate to be scarce at a time like this, so I pray we didn't offend anyone in the process.

The big canopy out back. This is a high end social club that used to be a country club, so they still have golf course greens but I don't think anyone plays anymore |

Cutting the cake, after which they went around and fed small pieces to all the family, including us. |

As you can tell, this pretty much looks like any other Western wedding reception. Lots of family, good food, great band, some dancing (of which I have no pics but hope to get some. Marsh wowed the crowd, as he always does) and free flowing wine. A very fun evening all around!
